It was a gamble, that’s for sure. One of the first questions I asked Michelle about her October wedding on the beach was “what’s your rain plan?” And yet…it completely paid off. They wound up with one of the most beautiful days of the year. Michelle walked down the sand to meet Mike in front of the wreck of the Peter Iredale in Astoria.

One of Michelle’s relatives crocheted this “ball-and-chain”…couldn’t resist taking a few shots with it…

Later we moved into town for a quiet dinner at the Bridgewater Bistro, one of my favorite spots in Astoria.

Gorgeous day…delicious food…cozy family…
Congratulations!

Everyone gathered that evening to celebrate in cute little downtown Manzanita…

Emily surprised Eric with an amazing karaoke rendition of Ray LaMontagne’s “You are the Best Thing”, accompanied by the cutest backup band ever.

After dinner we snuck out to take a few more shots out by the beach with Eric’s vintage Porsche.

Congratulations, you two!

I had a wonderful time photographing Kate and Dave’s wedding a few weeks ago in Astoria. It was such a pleasure and honor to be there, to see all of the special touches they worked so hard on that made it such a charming affair. They picked a fantastic venue (The Loft in Astoria, OR), right on the river and just next to the Megler bridge (which still terrifies me, but oh well…). The forecast called for heavy rain all weekend, and I had even picked up two umbrellas in preparation prior to heading out to the coast. Fortunately they weren’t needed: we had great sunshine all day and were treated to a gorgeous sunset.
