Leslie and Jason’s wedding is happening in Seattle, but having grown up here in Portland, Leslie wanted to have our engagement session around the places she loved growing up. We met up at Powell’s downtown (they’re so amenable to photographers!) and headed out from there. It was so wild hearing Leslie reminisce about how the Pearl District has changed since she was a kid.

Next up, their Seattle wedding!

I used to work with Joel in a past life, and I was so so thrilled when he and Brenda got engaged. For this shoot the weather wasn’t looking so favorable, so we decided to stick to the Pearl district, with its great parks and myriad textured walls that make oh-so-fun backdrops. We wrapped up in front of Barista, who do some of the best lattes in town…

Love love love Brenda’s beautiful ring from Gilt. Can’t go wrong at that place!

I’m so delighted to be shooting Brenda and Joel’s wedding this fall…they have such a natural ease and affection for each other. So happy for them!

Finally, summertime! In the midst of gross weather in Portland this summer, there was this glorious sunny day in June, perfect weather for Emily and Ben’s rooftop wedding at the Ecotrust building in Portland’s Pearl District. This was the same location my husband and I chose for our wedding almost two years ago, so it’s near to my heart. It was a lovely ceremony filled with personal touches and stories about the bride and groom, who have known each other since they were in elementary school. So many of my couples have had personal friends act as officiants, and I have to say that I really love it. It makes the ceremony so personal and unique. As the sun set everyone enjoyed dinner and drinks, and a small pack of friends hit the dance floor to bring home the night…
