I feel pretty darn lucky to have been at this wedding. Meghan and Prescott have a pretty remarkable story: they spent their engagement living aboard their sailboat and taking it all the way from Seattle to New York. I loved it the moment I heard it. Living on a sailboat? Why…my parents did that with me and my siblings when I was a kid! Clearly we would get along just fine.

Prescott’s parents have a gorgeous piece of land in the Columbia River Gorge, and it was the perfect spot for the couple’s June wedding. And the weather? After a super-wet late spring, this sunny wedding was exactly what I was hoping for…

Meghan wore one of the loveliest gowns from J.Crew

My favorite shot of the day!

Meghan and her family/friends spent so much time designing the little personal touches throughout. The whole look was very chic – lots of white and a rustic elegance. It was pretty incredible to think about her planning the whole thing from a boat, thousands of miles away!

It was pretty remarkable to be surrounded by all the love and happiness that day, and hear so many incredible stories of on-board adventures. You can follow along with their journey here: http://velellasdrift.wordpress.com/

I’ll be blogging the rest of this beautiful Gorge wedding next week. For now, just a sneak peek…

They couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day. It was slightly chilly out at Oswald West State Park, but so sunny that no one could complain. One of their favorite things to do together was to come out here to hike and surf, and on one trip they found a massive old tree they knew would be perfect for their ceremony location.

Emily’s gorgeous dress was from David’s Bridal, and she wore it with this sweet blue shawl, hand-knit by her mother for the occasion!

I loved all the early morning surfers!

next up, their sweet reception in Manzanita…
