Lizzi+Geoff: Kona, Hawaii Wedding

I’m so excited to share with you my very first Hawaii wedding today! I met Lizzi and Geoff early last year through my volunteer work with the Pacific Pug Rescue, and was so delighted when they asked me to photograph their wedding on the Kona Coast of the Big Island.

Lizzi and Geoff chose the Royal Kona Resort in Kailua-Kona for its very cool 60s vibe. I kept thinking of Mad Men the whole time we were there!

When couples opt not to see each other before the ceremony, I’m always extra focused on the groom as the bride comes down the aisle. Geoff’s reaction was so great.

During cocktail hour guests were serenaded with a band and treated to som hula dancing…

Hula lessons for the bridal party…

Though there were showers throughout the day, we were treated to an amazing sunset, and made sure to head out onto the lava rocks for a few pictures.

Lizzi’s Dad specifically requested fire dancing at the wedding! These traditional Samoan dancers were amazing. It was pretty mesmerizing!

Congratulations, Lizzi + Geoff! I had such an amazing time working with the both of you and am so honored to have been a part of your amazing day!

Ashleigh+Peter: Backyard Wedding in Oregon

So the winter rains have set in…what better excuse to look at a gorgeous late summer wedding?

Ashleigh had a vision in mind…and did she ever execute it. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I walked into the backyard of her parent’s house in Happy Valley, OR, and saw how everyone had pulled together to transform the space. It made for such a fun experience. Congratulations!

Gina+Ben: Seattle Wedding

You get me traveling to Seattle, you give me an absolutely gorgeous day, and I am one seriously happy camper. Gina and Ben chose a fabulous location near the Ballard locks (okay, you throw in boats and locks and I am VERY happy!). I knew that they enjoyed tango dancing prior to the wedding…but holy cow was I in for something during the reception! Check out the amazingness…

Megan+Fowler: Portland Engagement Session

For Megan and Fowler’s engagement session we covered some familiar ground in the Pearl district. It’s definitely a popular spot for photographers – I had my own wedding pictures taken in the gorgeous Tanner Springs Park, and we encountered another photographer there taking portraits as well, but it’s easy to see why. So lovely. These two are getting married next year at the World Forestry Center!

Norm+Joan: Oak Grove Backyard Wedding

Hands-down, one of the most lovely backyard weddings I’ve had the pleasure of attending. This intimate, elegant wedding took place on Norm’s property overlooking the Willamette. While also being one of the most naturally photogenic grooms I’ve ever met, the happiness on his and Joan’s faces throughout the night just melted me and made the night so much fun.

Paige+Paul: Blue Lake Park Wedding

To put it in so many words, Paige and Paul had such a beautiful wedding. Beautiful, brightly colored details filled the ceremony and reception and made for a punchy, happy experience for the guests. The Lake House at Blue Lake Park provided the backdrop to the gorgeous colors and the midsummer light. Paige herself never seemed to stop smiling, and it’s always so much fun to work with a couple that’s just so darn happy.

Hilary+Justin: Kennedy School Wedding

Hilary and Justin were married in June, on a day that was pretty hit-or-miss weather-wise. Just twenty minutes before the outdoor ceremony, it was pouring outside, and yet somehow it cleared in time for them to be married in the adorable Kennedy School courtyard. These two have fantastically goofy senses of humor and seem like they could laugh their way through anything. It was a blast sharing the day with them. Congratulations!

Hilary and Justin requested some “model” poses…hehe.

I love when wedding parties come up with this stuff completely of their own accord!

Margi+Vince: Manzanita Engagement Session

When we were discussing locations for their engagement shoot, Margi told me that we could go “anywhere in Oregon.” That’s a pretty rad thing to tell a photographer, and immediately I thought of Manzanita, a little town on the northern Coast. I hadn’t been back out there since shooting a wedding there in 2010. We began our shoot at Oswald West State Park, now hands-down one of my favorite places “anywhere in Oregon.” We ran around the beach, the little caves, and all over the big log fields. Margi and Vince have an infectious energy with each other. Vince was more reserved throughout, until Margi suggested that we have a paint fight on the beach…

Can’t wait for their wedding next year in Southern Oregon…another area of the State that’s new to me!

Lizzi+Geoff:Astoria Engagement Session (with pug!!)

I met Lizzi and Geoff through my involvement with Pacific Pug Rescue, so when it came time to shoot their engagement session, we knew that their adorable pug Cosmo had to be part of the show. We headed to Astoria on an absolutely gorgeous afternoon to wander around the wharf, ogle some sea lions, and, finally, finished up the day on the beach.

Matt+Alyssa:Cathedral Park Engagement Session

I’ve known Matt for a few years, since before he met Alyssa, and it’s been such a pleasure watching their relationship. He’s just so clearly smitten with her, and of course, I can never get enough of smitten couples. These two were such troopers through some of the oddest spring weather we had in our rainiest-in-recorded-history March. We had sunbreaks, we had showers, we had everything in between. Cathedral Park in St. Johns was the setting for our shoot…

The next day we headed over to Lompoc’s Side Bar on North Williams for a few beers and a few more images…
